About Us
Your trusted gateway to Sabah's island destinations for over a decade
About Jesselton Point
Jesselton Point is widely known as the main gateway to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, serving as the primary ferry terminal for visitors travelling to the surrounding islands off Kota Kinabalu. It plays a vital role in connecting locals and tourists to Sabah's iconic island destinations. For more on exploring Sabah's diverse attractions beyond the islands, visit SabahGuide.com.
Formerly known as the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal, Jesselton Point was privatised in September 2006 and has since grown into one of the city's most recognised waterfront attractions, supporting tourism and maritime activities.
To make way for the Jesselton Dockland redevelopment project, Jesselton Point operations have been relocated to the South Jetty Kota Kinabalu Port, ensuring uninterrupted ferry services while supporting the long-term transformation of Jesselton waterfront city.

Who manages Jesselton Point Ferry Terminal?
Jesselton Point is operated by Jesselton Waterfront Consortium (JWCTL), which manages daily terminal operations in collaboration with maritime authorities including the Police Marine Department and Sabah Port and Harbour Department.
What is the difference between terminal operator and boat operators?
The terminal operator (JWCTL) manages the ferry terminal facilities — ticketing, waiting areas, boarding coordination, and ground operations. Registered boat operators take over once passengers board, handling vessel operations, navigation, crew, and safety during the journey to the islands.
How long has Jesselton Point been operating?
Originally established as the Kota Kinabalu Ferry Terminal, Jesselton Point was privatised in September 2006 and has been serving as the main gateway to Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park for nearly two decades, supporting thousands of visitors annually.
Is Jesselton Point safe?
Yes, safety is our top priority. We maintain secure terminal facilities meeting established safety standards, work closely with Police Marine and Sabah Port authorities, and all registered boat operators comply with strict safety and seaworthiness requirements. We're also equipped with a dedicated medical room and AED for emergencies.
Where is the new Jesselton Point location?
To support the Jesselton Dockland redevelopment project, Jesselton Point operations have been temporarily relocated to the South Jetty, Kota Kinabalu Port (Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens, 88000 Kota Kinabalu). This ensures uninterrupted ferry services to the islands while the waterfront undergoes long-term transformation. The permanent address remains Jesselton Point, Jalan Haji Saman, 88000 Kota Kinabalu.
